August 2004, I worked in the COC doing boring admin stuff; processing tickets for base internet and telephone line repairs. That didn't last long. (Sgt Luna didnt want any other females in her work area.) Soon enough I was put on camp guard and found myself guarding detainees, making lots of sand bags, dodging mortar fire, and standing guard in Tower one on Blue Diamond. We supported Operation Phantom Fury and security measures during OIF.
Any POG knows MCT is incredibly exciting. We had THE best instructors (Cpl Sato and Sgt Suarez) and learned things that increased our war fighting mentality. We hiked in freezing ice cold rain, took our disagreements over fire watch to the tree line, stood gate guard in subzero temps, and fired all kinds of ridiculously powerful weapons. And of course, practiced run fuzzy bunny run until our knees bleed.
